Nations
Avulte
- A small union of city-states in the floodplains of the delta of the River Tivae just before it meets the sea of Uran.
- The delta is surrounded by desert.
- Each city sends their most powerful magic user the the council of Avulte (Green Court) which governs the region through magocracy.
- The council has gotten into the business of controlling flood and drought cycles with their powerful magic which has increased the agricultural yield of the area and grown it beyond the land's natural carrying capacity.
- A civil war occurred recently after the union became divided on whether or not magic should be used to prevent flooding. The proflooders won and exiled the leaders of the anti-flood movement to neighboring regions.
- The primary exports and trade of the union is agriculture, magic, and potions. They are reliant on imports of minerals and metals.
Vaukveubor
- A hot and dry steppe populated by nomadic people who primarily raise grazing livestock.
- Powerful magic laders usually become leaders of each nomadic group. Sometimes there is strife internally between groups but usually there is harmony as these groups share a common culture.
- There are ruins of ancient civilizations along the steppe that follow the path of a dried up riverbed they call Tuldra.
- They believe themselves to be the descendants of the Tuldran peoples who fled the cities for the hills and steppe after a mysterious cataclysm dried up the river and caused widespread famine and collapse.
- They are very protective of their region to outsiders and generally frown upon outsiders visiting the ruins. They trade with peoples further up the coast refusing to allow anyone to enter.
- There was previously a war with a neighboring state who tried to enter the region, loot the ruints, and extract unique precious metals from the caves beneath the hills. This power was pushed back successfully and trade was closed after a long barrier fence was erected by magic users to keep them out. Many are wary that group will return and seek revenge.
