Kaviulnu

The Duchy of Kaviulnu is the northernmost nation in Tarocath. Its cities and villages are carved into the caves and canyons of the region to avoid the extreme and destructive winds on the surface plateau. The plateau surface is largely barren, windswept rock scored by deep canyons. It is high-altitude but with an intense and hot sun; the daytime is sweltering and the nights are frigid.

Each city is governed by a hereditary duke, except for the capital city of Duuna which is ruled by the archduke. The archduke is elected from among the families of the dukes for life; a new election is held when the current archduke dies.
